Employer Support of Guard and Reserve turns 40 this week

     Whether it is during times of war or natural disasters, members of the National Guard and Reserve leave their jobs and families to respond.  An agency that that provides support for those members and their employers is being recognized this week in Arkansas and across the nation.  KASU’s Johnathan Reaves has this report.

JETS routes will change due to Bridge Street Closure in Jonesboro

Bridge Street in Jonesboro between Johnson Avenue and Cate Street will be closed for repairs on the bridge.  Te project is expected to be complete in November.  Due to this, JETS is making changes to its bus routes.  Here are the changes.


Beginning on June 15th, JETS Route 35 will no longer serve the following stops UNTIL the end of the construction on Bridge Street:

Award winning pictures to be shown at Carnegie Hall

Two Jonesboro High School students will have their pictures featured in New York.  Katie Neilson and Alyssa Blakeney each entered the Mid-South Scholastic Art competition in Memphis and won a gold key.  They went to the National Scholastic competition in New York and won gold medals for their work. They will be awarded in June.  KASU's Marty Scarbrough interviews Neilson and Blakeney in this Spotlight On the Arts feature.

Blues Fest starts Sunday at Craighead Forest Park

Jonesboro, AR – Blues Fest 2011 gets underway this Sunday afternoon at Craighead Forest Park in Jonesboro. The free music festival is held each year at the bandshell on Access Road 6. Entertainer Ed Underwood "Bringing Spooky Back" to Jonesboro

Jonesboro, AR – Ed Underwood and his family specialize in entertaining audiences with magic, music, and stories with more than a touch of the bizarre. Ed's interest in history has led him to seek out legends and lore in the area he calls home. He has turned those stories into a successful Ghost Tour in downtown Jonesboro. That venture led to the writing of a book - "Haunted Jonesboro." And now he and his troupe are performing the Ghost Hours Show in various locations. The book is now available in area bookstores.
