A traffic study suggests that improvements will be needed for proposed development at Hilltop, but those improvements should not stop the development of Greensborough Village. That is the result of a study that was conducted by Peters and Associates Engineers of Little Rock. They did the study for Halsey Thrasher Harpole, who is the commercial real estate company working on the Hilltop project. According to the Sun newspaper, intersection and traffic signal improvements would be needed to regulate traffic in and around Greensborough Village, but the study says traffic would continue to operate at “acceptable levels of service” once the village is complete. The Greensborough Village is a 201-acre site that would allow for a mixed use of commercial and residential properties, with over half of the residences being single family detached and attached residential. The plan for the new area reportedly includes 200 single-family lots on the north and south sides of Greensboro road, as well as commercial development and multifamily housing. Commercial development is expected to be located closer to East Johnson Avenue. Traffic is one of the major concerns about the project. The Jonesboro City Council is expected to vote on whether or not to approve Greensborough Village Thursday night.
