After the passing of Lawrence County Judge Dale Freeman, officials will begin a search for a Democratic candidate to finish his term.

The 75 year old judge was elected as county judge in 2010.  Freeman was serving as county judge at the time of his passing and was running for reelection on the November ballot.  Thursday, Lawrence county Democrats will convene to nominate a candidate to finish Freeman’s term.

According to state law, the selected candidate will be ineligible to run a second term for the same position.  The meeting will be held Thursday night at the Lawrence County Courthouse.
