One of the proposed convention centers in Jonesboro may not get built if the developer doesn't meet a deadline next month.
The Jonesboro Advertising and Promotions Commission is giving the developer of the Hyatt Place Hotel and Convention Center until May 19 to ease recent concerns about the project. According to the letter obtained by the Jonesboro Sun, developer Chris Keller must submit various documentation in regards to the project.
Some documents the commission are requesting include final plans for the project and a reasonable time-frame for the project to be completed. The Jonesboro Sun reports the commission voted in early April to withhold further payments to Keller after 2 liens were filed against the company totaling $871,873.25.
Keller told the Sun in February he halted construction because his primary investor was 5 months overdue on the second draw of the project. Keller has already received $75,000 from the city.
The Hyatt Place Hotel and Convention Center is to be built on Browns Ln. access road near Interstate 555.
The commission plans to revisit the matter on May 31.
