Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s deputy chief of staff announced Monday that he will be stepping down from his post to open an consulting firm.

The Associated Press reports Jon Gilmore is set to resign at the end of June to work in the private sector.  Gilmore’s announcement comes after Michael Lamoureux, Hutchinson’s former chief of staff, announced his resignation to work in the private sector in May.

Last month, Hutchinson announced that Alison Williams, director of state-federal relations, would replace Lamoureux as his new chief of staff.

Here’s an official statement from Hutchinson on Gilmore:

"Jon has been a key part of my leadership team for the past three years.  He managed my successful campaign, and he has also been instrumental in implementing my agenda as governor.  His talent and counsel will be missed inside the office, but I am delighted he will continue to be engaged in Arkansas as part of the private sector.  I will continue to draw upon his friendship and support in the future."

Gilmore released the following statement:

"It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as Governor Hutchinson’s Deputy Chief of Staff and to play a part in his administration. The Governor’s trust is humbling, and I appreciate the mentorship and friendship he has provided to me and continues to provide. I look forward to continued support of his leadership of our state."
