Craighead County signature deadline is today for alcohol measure

A group that is backing a measure to place alcohol sales on the November ballot faces a five p.m. deadline today to get additional signatures turned in to the Craighead County Clerk’s Office.  Our Community, Our Dollars turned in 21,180 signatures to the Clerk’s Office earlier this month. Of that number, about five thousand signatures were thrown out.  County Clerk Kade Holliday says the group needs to collect three thousand-810 signatures and have them turned in to the county clerk’s office by five p.m. today.  Holliday tells KASU news signatures have not been turned in yet.  In Saline County, additional signatures were also needed by today’s deadline.  The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports 25,917 signatures were turned in to Saline County, but the clerk’s office rejected 4,406 of those signatures.  On Monday, more than 6,700 signatures were submitted to the clerk.  A petition for Faulkner County has been pushed back to Tuesday, August 5 because efforts to collect signatures were delayed after a tornado ripped through the county in April.
