Three schools in Craighead County are being recognized in a list of the best schools in the nation.
The Jonesboro Sun reports Valley View High School, Buffalo Island Central High School, and Nettleton High School were listed in the 2016 Best High School Rankings report.
U.S. News and World Report publish the rankings every year. Schools in each state across the nation are ranked on factors such as graduation rates and Benchmark exam performance. Some schools are then awarded a gold, silver, or bronze medal based on of the results.
Valley View was among 20 schools in Arkansas to receive a silver medal. The school was recognized for having over 80% of their students score above proficiency levels in English and Math on Benchmark tests. Valley View also was recognized for having a large amount of students in advanced placement classes who are passing those courses.
Buffalo Island and Nettleton each received Bronze medals. Both schools had over 70% of their students scoring above proficiency levels in Math and English.
