ASU is Approved for NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine

Arkansas State University has been approved to be the site of the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Sunday, the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation endorsed the new medical school.

The $12.6 million school is expected to open in August and will be located at Wilson Hall at Arkansas State.

115 students will make up the inaugural class and it is expected to house a couple of hundred students every year when it is in full operation.

Last year, a national feasibility study predicted the medical school will have a 70-million-dollar impact in northeast Arkansas. It is also expected to help bring more primary care physicians into the Delta region.
