Arkansas highway officials concerned about revenue streams, federal highway fund

State highway officials say future road projects in the state are in jeopardy because of a lack of action from the United States Congress on financing the federal highway fund.  The Associated Press reports that total money available to states from a the fund has declined over three percent from 2008 to 2013.  That money is set to run out in two months, which is a major concern for every state, including Arkansas.  Arkansas highway officials are looking at which projects may have to be cut if the fund is not replenished.  Additionally, the highway department is also looking for alternative revenue streams as fuel tax revenues decline.  KASU's Johanthan Reaves discussed these issues with Randy Ort, Public Information Officer wi the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. Ort starts by giving an update on the situation.  Click on the Listen button to hear the entire interview.
