- How can I host my own radio program on KASU? [top]
KASU has procedures everyone must follow if they are interested in producing material for
broadcast on the station. For details on those procedures, click here.
- I'm a local musician. How can I have KASU feature my music on your station? [top]
KASU will feature music which only fits within its current broadcast format (classical, jazz,
blues, bluegrass, Celtic, folk). Submissions of music outside of these catagories will not be
accepted (no rock, rap or country). Also, the music must be available for purchase on CD (no
"demo" recordings). KASU reserves the right to determine what music is appropriate for
broadcast on the station, even if it falls into one of the categories of music currently being
broadcast on the station.
- I'm having problems receiving a clear signal from KASU on my radio. How can I improve my
reception? [top]
In recent years, additional radio stations have begun broadcasting on the frequencies near 91.9
FM, especially in locations beyond the immediate Jonesboro area. In those outlying areas, these
other stations' signals may "drown out" KASU's broadcast signal. These other stations are
broadcasting within legal guidelines set by the Federal Communications Commission. KASU
hopes at some point in the near future to provide live streaming of its broadcast audio over the
internet so that KASU can be heard by anyone anywhere in the world with an internet
connection. Announcements will be made on-air and on this website when this service begins.
- I would like to comment about something I heard on KASU. How may I do so? [top]
Written comments are appreciated either via email at kasu@astate.edu or through the mail at
P.O. Box 2160, State University, AR 72467. You may also call the station during regular
business hours, weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM, and speak either to KASU Program Director
Marty Scarbrough or KASU Station Manager Robert Franklin. The phone numbers are 870-972-
2200 or toll free in Arkansas, Tennessee and Missouri at 800-643-8269.

- Why doesn't KASU broadcast Arkansas State University sporting events? [top]

- KASU is located on a college campus. Why don't you play "college" music? [top]
At this time, there are numerous other radio stations in the Jonesboro area which feature
alternative rock music, rap, hip-hop, hard rock and other types of music which typically appeal to
college students. KASU is committed to providing forms of music not currently available on
other radio stations, much of which does appeal to college students, but also appeals to the
community at large.
- What opportunities are there for students at Arkansas State University to work at KASU?
[top]
Students may enroll in the Advanced Radio Practices course. In this course, students work a
specified number of hours per week at the station in exchange for class credit. All work is done
under the direct supervision of members of the full-time staff of KASU. Among tasks which
students may have the opportunity to learn include use of computer software to edit audio,
advanced audio production skills, announcing, news gathering, script writing, marketing
techniques, and promotional skills. There is one required pre-requisite course for Advanced
Radio Practices, Audio Production.
KASU also provides opportunities for students to work as paid, part-time staff members doing
many of the same tasks listed above. Typically, students are hired as paid part-time staff after
they have taken the Advanced Radio Practices course. Part-time staff also work under the direct
supervision of members of KASU's full-time staff.
Opportunities also exist for student workers in the offices of KASU and the Radio/TV
Department. Such paid part-time staff members do clerical and secretarial work as well as
research for KASU.
Students may also volunteer their time to KASU. For guidelines regarding doing volunteer work
at KASU, click here.

- What is KASU's relationship to ASU-TV? How may I contact ASU-TV? [top]
