The City of Jonesboro has a new Chief Operations Officer and a new JETS director.  Retired United States Air Force Lt. Col. Edward Tanner has been named as the city’s new Chief Operations Officer. Tanner replaces L. M. Duncan, who has retired.

Jonesboro Economical Transportation System is experiencing a telephone outage that has left riders without means to contact JET by telephone. The outage is expected to last until mid-afternoon today.

JETS Reports Steady Ridership, but Low Revenues

The Jonesboro Economic Transit System is seeing a steady number of bus riders, but is losing revenue. 

JETS Director Steve Ewart explained to committee members that last month’s revenue numbers were almost $1,500 less than one year ago. 

Last January, JETS brought in over $4,000.  Last month, JETS brought in $2,700.  Ewart blamed the revenue loss on the system’s fare collecting system.  He says regular glitches and malfunctions have made it hard to collect money for rides. 

Bridge Street in Jonesboro between Johnson Avenue and Cate Street will be closed for repairs on the bridge.  Te project is expected to be complete in November.  Due to this, JETS is making changes to its bus routes.  Here are the changes.

 

Beginning on June 15th, JETS Route 35 will no longer serve the following stops UNTIL the end of the construction on Bridge Street:
