Walmart and Sam’s Club employees will see an increase in their paychecks this week.
Monday, the Bentonville-based company announced more than 1.2 million associates in the U.S., including over 29,151 Arkansas employees, will receive a pay raise on Thursday.
The raises are a part of Walmart’s two-year $2.7 billion investment in wages and training.
Company officials say associates hired before January first of this year will earn $10 an hour.
New entry-level associates hired after January first will start at $9 an hour which will jump to $10 an hour after completing their new training program.
Associates already making $10 an hour will receive their annual pay increase in March instead of on the anniversary of their hire date.
Walmart operates 11,535 stores worldwide with 132 stores in Arkansas.
