LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Severe weather is in the forecast early this week in Arkansas as a strong storm system is set to cross the state.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock says temperatures will again be unseasonably warm on Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 60s and 70s expected. Some thunderstorms are possible Monday but the bigger risk for severe weather is Tuesday.

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, says northern and central Arkansas and southeastern Missouri are at an enhanced risk for severe weather Tuesday. Forecasters say about 3.4 million people live in the affected area, which includes Little Rock, Fort Smith, Fayetteville and Jonesboro.

Forecasters say the state could see a cluster of storms with the potential for a strong tornado Tuesday afternoon and evening.
