Improvements to Highway 87 will require a road closure northwest of Mountain View in Stone County, according to Arkansas Highway and Transportation (AHTD) officials. Crews will replace a damaged drain beneath Highway 87. The work area will be located between Hampton Drive and Wilcox Drive, northwest of Mountain View.

It will require closing the roadway Monday, August 11th at 8:00 a.m. through Friday, August 15th at 5:00 p.m., weather permitting. A detour will be posted to follow Highway 66 to Highway 9, then west on Highway. 14. The closure will be 2.5 miles north of Highway 66 at the bottom of “Red Hill” and a quarter mile south of Wilcox Road.

Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com
