Baylor Assistant basketball coach Grant McCasland is the new men’s basketball coach at Arkansas State University. He was introduced today during a press conference at the Convocation Center.
McCasland addressed the crowd and said he will establish a family atmosphere with the team:
McCasland says he will fly back to help coach Baylor while they are playing in the NCAA tournament tomorrow afternoon. He says he will wear a red tie, representing the Red Wolves, and also promised the Wolves will be in the tournament in years to come.
He tells what his coaching philosophy is
When asked about what will define his team, he says there will be a lot of speed on the team:
Grant McCasland. McCasland most recently spent the last five seasons as an assistant coach at Baylor, helping lead the Bears to NCAA Tournament appearances in 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Prior to Baylor, he spent two seasons as the head coach at Midwestern State and led the program to back-to-back Elite Eight appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament. McCasland also has head coaching experience at the junior college level, leading Midland College to the 2007 NJCAA national championship.
