Governor Beebe replaces Maggio and makes other appointments

Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe has named a replacement after a judge was removed from the bench last week by the Arkansas Supreme Court.  Governor Beebe's office has announced that Michael Murphy of Conway has been appointed as Circuit Judge in the 2nd Division Court of the 20th Judicial District. He replaces Mike Maggio, who was removed from the bench last week after disclosing confidential details about an adoption involving a Hollywood actress's child and making inappropriate comments in an online forum.  The state's highest court called for the lifetime ban last week.  Murphy's appointment lasts through the rest of the year.  Here are the other appointments, as released through Governor Mike Beebe's office:

Governor Beebe also announced the following appointments to State boards and commissions:

Dr. Timothy Calicott, Little Rock, reappointed to the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council. Appointment expires July 1, 2017.

David Hendrix, Antoine, to the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Board. Appointment expires January 14, 2018. Replaces Marilyn Matthews.

Beverly Jones, Little Rock, to the Capitol Zoning District Commission. Appointment expires August 13, 2017. Replaces Ralph Vines.

Michael Jones, Dumas, reappointed to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Board of Visitors. Appointment expires July 31, 2017.

Dr. Samantha McKelvey, Little Rock, to the Arkansas Commission for Newborn Umbilical Cord Blood Initiative. Appointment expires September 4, 2018. Replaces Dr. Curtis Lowery.

Dr. Jessica Newman, Little Rock, to the Universal Newborn Hearing, Screening, Tracking and Intervention Advisory Board. Appointment expires January 14, 2017. Replaces Dr. Lisa Christensen.

Robert Reynolds, El Dorado, reappointed to the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources Advisory Committee. Appointment expires July 31, 2019.

Dr. Tommy Roebuck, Arkadelphia, reappointed to the Children’s Behavioral Health Care Commission. Appointment expires August 15, 2017.

Travis Senter, Sr., Osceola, to the Boll Weevil Eradication Committee. Appointment expires July 1, 2016. Replaces Bobby Gammill.

Johnathan Reaves is the News Director for KASU Public Radio. As part of an Air Force Family, he moved to Arkansas from Minot, North Dakota in 1986. He was first bitten by the radio bug after he graduated from Gosnell High School in 1992. While working on his undergraduate degree, he worked at KOSE, a small 1,000 watt AM commercial station in Osceola, Arkansas. Upon graduation from Arkansas State University in 1996 with a degree in Radio-Television Broadcast News, he decided that he wanted to stay in radio news. He moved to Stuttgart, Arkansas and worked for East Arkansas Broadcasters as news director and was there for 16 years.
