Northeast Arkansas is expected to get enough rain through the week which may lead to river flooding.
Forecaster Phil Baker with the National Weather Service in Memphis says the forecast is calling for up to 4 inches of rain likely to hit around the mid part of the week.
Anytime we see this type of system where you're talking 4 inches of rain fall in a matter of 36 to 48 hours, that typically does lead to river rises," Baker says.
He explains that the greatest concerns are for areas where there are smaller rivers that could take a little more time to die down, such as the Black or St. Francis rivers.
Baker says even though heavier amounts of rain in the state is expected mostly southwest of Little Rock, the rain can still impact small unpaved roads, and crops.
Baker also says farmers should also be aware of how rain over the next few days could have an impact on crops. He says standing water could be an issue due to the hard winter grounds not drawing any moisture, especially in the flatter farm lands in the Delta region.
Baker says that smaller, unpaved roads could also be impacted by the rain. He advises farmers to move their equipment to higher ground ahead of time.
The forecast calls for the timing of the rain to hit around the mid-part of the week. Baker advises to keep an eye out to local forecasts for flash flood and river flood warnings.
