First woman to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean to speak at ASU

Arkansas State University presents Tori Murden McClure at the Honors Lecture of the Year.  McClure is president of Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky.  She is author of "A Pearl in the Storm: How I Found My Heart in the Middle of the Ocean".  McClure is best known as the first woman and first American to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean. McClure also was one of two women and six Americans to travel over land to the geographic South Pole, skiing 750 miles from the ice shelf to the pole.  McClure will speak at ASU's Student Union Auditorium on Tuesday, February 12th at seven.  This is free and open to the public.  KASU's Johnathan Reaves spoke with McClure and filed this report.

Johnathan Reaves is the News Director for KASU Public Radio. As part of an Air Force Family, he moved to Arkansas from Minot, North Dakota in 1986. He was first bitten by the radio bug after he graduated from Gosnell High School in 1992. While working on his undergraduate degree, he worked at KOSE, a small 1,000 watt AM commercial station in Osceola, Arkansas. Upon graduation from Arkansas State University in 1996 with a degree in Radio-Television Broadcast News, he decided that he wanted to stay in radio news. He moved to Stuttgart, Arkansas and worked for East Arkansas Broadcasters as news director and was there for 16 years.
