CenterPoint Energy filed an application with the Arkansas Public Service Commission yesterday to change the company’s natural gas distribution rates which could raise the average residential customer’s monthly bill by $6.68 next year.
According to Talk-Business, company officials says if the APSC approves the company’s filing, the new rates would go into effect in the third quarter of 2016 and would generate over 35 million dollars in additional annual revenue which will go into modernizing the current natural gas system.
Officials also stated the price hike’s effect on individual monthly bills will vary depending on natural gas use and customer class.
CenterPoint is the state’s largest gas utility servicing 430 thousand residential, commercial, and industrial customers across Arkansas.
