ASU System starts search for Beebe Chancellor

ASU-Beebe Chancellor Search Begins

BEEBE, Ark. –Arkansas State University System President Charles L. Welch today announced the beginning of the search for a chancellor to succeed retiring ASU-Beebe Chancellor Eugene McKay.

McKay announced in May that he would retire in January after almost 50 years’ service at ASU-Beebe, including the past 21 years as chancellor.

Welch said the position and related information have been posted to the ASU-Beebe website at www.asub.edu/chancellor-information. Review of applications will begin Oct. 15 and continue until the position is filled.

Welch also announced the appointment of the search committee, which he will chair. The members include Tyler Seale, student; Kristie Coley, associate professor of veterinary technology; Ken Barton, advanced instructor of computer systems; Teddy Davis, education and social science division chair; Richard Counts, associate professor of chemistry; Robin Hayes, director of admissions; Carissa Gillam, registrar assistant; Chris Lee, chief information technology officer; Linda Yelder, associate director of financial aid; Barry Farris, vice chancellor for ASU-Searcy; Diandra Verser, learning center coordinator at ASU-Heber Springs; and community representatives Dewitt Yingling and Ali Sugg.

ASU-Beebe has an average enrollment of more than 4,500 students and is the only two-year college in Arkansas with residence halls. ASU-Beebe has additional campuses in Heber Springs, Searcy and the Little Rock Air Force Base.

The ASU System serves 23,300 students throughout Arkansas and also includes Arkansas State University, a four-year research institution in Jonesboro; ASU-Newport, with additional campuses in Jonesboro and Marked Tree; ASU-Mountain Home; ASU Mid-South in West Memphis; and instructional sites in Paragould and at the Little Rock Air Force Base.
