75 Properties with Flood Damage, Jonesboro Seeks More

City of Jonesboro

The city of Jonesboro is asking residents who have sustained damage from this week’s flooding event to contact them immediately.  City officials Thursday estimated 75 properties that sustained flood damage and are expecting the number to increase.  Reports of damage will be used to help the city receive state and federal assistance to help those affected.

Please read the press release below for  more details on how to contact the city for assistance:

The city current estimates that 75 properties have reported flood damage. That number is expected to increase. Residents are encouraged to send damage estimates to assist in proving need of state and federal assistance. Even those who are covered by insurance should report losses because deductibles can be declared.

The city asks that anyone who sustained property damage please contact the city streets department at 870-932-0660 or by email at ctrego@jonesboro.org. They also should email photos and estimates of damage costs, if available, to the above address and Craighead County Emergency Management Director David Moore at dmoore@craigheadcounty.org.

Mayor Harold Perrin spent Thursday afternoon visiting residents in several flooded areas, including the Fairview neighborhood that sustained considerable damage.

“We are working to help our residents who have suffered tremendous loss, and my heart goes out to them,” Perrin said. “But more than that, we are working diligently to find all avenues of financial assistance for them that we can.”
