Free vision screening sessions for children between six months and twelve years old to determine if they might have any vision problems will be held in several regional public libraries over the next three months. Using a sophisticated SPOT vision screening device, a team of Jonesboro University Heights Lions Club members, led by Dr. Tom Woods, will take a quick “snapshot” of childrens’ eyes, and if any abnormalities are seen by the device, a printed form will be generated suggesting that the child’s parent or guardian take the child to an eye doctor to learn if there is a problem. Over the last three years, the club has screened thousands of children in Craighead , Greene, and Poinsett counties for vision problems.
